Apa yang dilakukan pria ini memang benar-benar keterlaluan. Ia tega mengikat putrinya yang masih berusia 4 tahun hanya karena tidak ingin diganggu saat memainkan game kesayanganya.

Pria tersebut bernama Heath Howe, 27 tahun, asal Florida, Amerika Serikat. Ia terbukti telah melakukan penganiayaan terhadap putrinya sendiri dengan mengikatnya di dalam dapur.

Bahkan karena terlalu keras ikatannya, anak tersebut mengalami luka di sekeliling tangan mungilnya. Dan ketika dimintai keterangan oleh polisi, bocah yang masih polos itu hanya mengatakan bahwa ayahnya ingin bermain 'game dewasa'. Tidak dijelaskan apa game dewasa yang dimaksud.

Ironisnya, ibu anak tersebut juga tak lebih baik dari ayahnya. Meski melihat putrinya diikat erat di dapur, ia seakan tak peduli dan tetap membiarkannya sendiri.

Seperti dikutip detikINET dari dailymail, Selasa (29/5/2012), entah berapa lama anak tersebut diikat, namun yang jelas baru dilepaskan oleh salah satu teman orang tuanya yang kebetulan melihat kejadian memilukan itu.

Akibat perlakuan tak pantas itu sang ayah diancam dengan tuntutan penganiayaan terhadap anak-anak. Sedangkan sang ibu, hingga kini status dan namanya belum disebutkan.(detik)

1. Mengurangi waktu tidur nyenyak
Efek rokok yang paling dramatis pada tidur adalah pengurangan waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk tidur dalam atau nyenyak. Jurnal 'Chest' tahun 2008 melaporkan bahwa perokok kronis menghabiskan lebih banyak waktu pada tidur ringan, terutama di bagian awal malam.

Pelakunya adalah nikotin, yang memiliki efek merangsang pada sistem saraf. Ironisnya, karena nikotin dalam aliran darah berkurang sepanjang malam, gejala penarikan pun meningkat, termasuk kegelisahan dan insomnia.

2. Sering terbangun malam
Selain membuat tidur tidak nyenyak, rokok juga meningkatkan fragmentasi tidur yang menyebabkan Anda sering terbangun di tengah malam.

3. Berisiko tinggi sleep apnea
Merokok juga merupakan faktor risiko independen untuk gangguan tidur berbahaya yang dikenal sebagai apnea tidur obstruktif atau obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Menurut Mayo Clinic, perokok tiga kali lebih mungkin untuk mengalami OSA dibandingkan orang yang tidak pernah merokok.

Selama OSA, saluran udara menyempit atau tersumbat sehingga mencegah oksigen yang cukup sampai ke otak selama tidur. Dengkuran (ngorok) yang sangat keras dan terengah-engah adalah dua gejala umum OSA.

Jika tidak ditangani kondisi ini dapat menyebabkan hipertensi pulmonal (tekanan darah tinggi di sekitar pembuluh darah paru), gagal jantung dan kematian dini.

Merokok meningkatkan risiko OSA karena kebiasaan itu mengiritasi lapisan tenggorokan dan menyebabkan sumbatan malam hari.

Bersiap Gerhana Matahari Total di Akhir Tahun

Gerhana matahari cincin yang berlangsung hari ini tidak bisa dinikmati semua penduduk bumi. Di Indonesia hanya wilayah Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, dan Papua yang bisa menikmatinya.

Namun jangan berkecil hati, enam bulan lagi fenomena alam berupa gerhana matahari total, akan menyambangi bumi.

Profesor Riset Astronomi Astrofisika Lembaga Antariksa dan Penerbangan Nasional (LAPAN), Thomas Djamaluddin kepada Vivanews, Senin 21 Mei 2012, menuturkan, gerhana matahari total terjadi dua kali dalam setahun.

Gerhana matahari total, kata Thomas, akan terjadi pada 14 November 2012. Saat itu gerhana matahari akan melintasi Pasifik Barat, Australia, hingga Amerika Selatan.  Di Indonesia, wilayah yang dilintasi adalah Maluku dan Papua.

Kondisi November berbeda dengan gerhana matahari cincin hari ini. Menurut Thomas, pada gerhana matahari total, bulan akan tampak besar dan menutupi seluruh matahari.

Untuk menyaksikan gerhana matahari total, Anda perlu melindungi diri dari kerusakan retina mata saat menyaksikannya. "Harus ada filter untuk mengurangi silau. Untuk pengamatan sebentar, bisa menggunakan kacamata hitam," ujar Thomas.

Alat bantu pengamatan ini (kacamata hitam) tetap memiliki risiko merusak mata apabila digunakan untuk menatap gerhana dalam waktu lama.

Sembari menunggu gerhana matahari 6 bulan mendatang, Anda bisa menyaksikan gerhana bulan 2 minggu lagi.  Pada 4 Juni 2012, bulan purnama akan tertutup sebagian hingga pukul 19.00 WIB.

"Cewek Uzbek Dibiarkan, Lady Gaga Dilarang"

Jakarta - Ketua Komisi III Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) Benny K Harman menilai sikap Polri yang menolak konser penyanyi Lady Gaga, aneh.

Benny meminta Kapolri Jenderal Timur Pradopo tidak diskriminatif. Lady Gaga dilarang, tetapi lokalisasi dan tempat mangkal wanita tuna susila (WTS) justru dibiarkan.

"Kapolri jangan diskriminatif, jangan (cewek, red) Uzbeskistan diberi karpet merah. Orang yang datang untuk tunjukkan ekspresi kebudayaan kok dilarang," katanya, Jakarta, Senin (21/5/2012).

Benny juga berpendapat alasan yang dipakai Polri bahwa Lady Gaga merusak moral bangsa. Sebab, polisi bukan penjaga moral.

"Sejak kapan polisi jadi penjaga moral. Nanti lama-lama, orang tidak ibadah ditangkap. Itu tidak akan ganggu Pancasila kita," jelasnya.

Sebagaimana diberitakan, konser Lady Gaga di Indonesia terancam gagal. Polri tidak memberikan izin keramaian karena penyanyai asal Amerika Serikat tersebut dianggap bisa mengganggu keamanan.
